Aventuras Panama San Blas kayak trip rocks!
The 5 days I spent exploring the San Blas islands by kayak were the best commercial sea kayak trip I have ever been on, and I have been on a dozen, all over Latin America. The trip is pricey, on the other hand everything, including Panama airfare and airport transport is included. The gorgeous, untouched San Blas islands, a Kuna Indian independent territory, are totally inaccessible by sea kayak to the independent traveler, so trips like this are "it." The guide and the cook/camp manager were both experienced and thoughtful, the food (very fresh fish and lots of trimmings) was plentiful and varied, the tents/mattresses were super quality and comfy, the corasl of the reefs were more varied and healthier than in Belize. We explored different islands and snorkelled different reefs every day; I could often set my own agenda. Kayak equipment was high quality, and the launch accompanying made for super-safety and convenience. Almost best was the chance to talk to Kuna about their very self-aware and so far successful campaign to keep their culture and islands safe from destructive development, while allowing for some income for tribe members through ecotourism. Thank you Javier, and good luck!

San Blas Kayaking Trip was the highlight of our vacation!
While I consider myself an adventurous person, I'm not really the camping type. So, the idea of camping and kayaking in the San Blas islands for 4 days both intrigued and unsettled me. I could not be happier that my husband swung the vote in favor of signing up for the trip. From start to finish, Aventuras had everything taken care of. We arrived to a picture perfect sandy island to find our campsite all ready to go… complete with a fully stocked camp kitchen. We spent the next 4 days kayaking, swimming, snorkeling, relaxing, and eating like kings… fresh fish, veggies, fruit, eggs. Our guides, Matt and Demas, were fantastic. They were knowledgeable, fun, and interesting but never pushy or overbearing. We also had the pleasure of getting to know the Kuna family who owned and cared for the island. San Blas is a truly special destination. Governed by the Kuna, it remains a largely untouched oasis of gorgeous sandy, palm tree riddled islands. Exploring the islands by kayak with Aventuras was the perfect way to see San Blas.

Epic Adventure !
The 4x4, hike, raft and dug out canoe to the Embera village (Chagres challenge) was fantastic! The river is gorgeous and the guides were experts! The price is very reasonable given how many people it takes to put on the expedition. We felt like family at the village. The Embera people are so genuine and open. We only wished we had more cash so we could have bought more of their incredible crafts (e.g., bowl in the village cost $35 and lesser similar piece in the city cost $150.)
Water at the San Blas islands was the clearest I have ever seen (and that says a lot!). We saw 100+ star fish, countless manta, spotted and sand rays, rivers of fish that you couldn't see the beginning or end and healthy, beautiful coral. The guides were the best! They were great cooks and found great places to snorkel, sea kayak and swim.
We highly recommend Adventures Panama! The logistics are complicated and they made it seem easy. We always felt safe and well cared for.

Kayaking in the San Blas Islands
Did a very fun 5-day/4-night sea kayaking and snorkeling trip with Aventuras Panama. We camped at a beautiful and very small island in the Cayos Holandesas, an hour-and-a-half motor boat ride from the main port, and barely saw anyone else all week. I had no more than 20 minutes of kayaking experience before going, so while you don't need to be an experienced kayaker, you definitely need to be in decent condition. And you need to be prepared for camping! That said, it's worth it for the clear, clean water, the amazing fish you'll see while snorkeling, and the Guna Yala Indians that you will meet along the way. Very knowledgeable guides, ample food, and all gear was provided. Be sure to pack a rashguard or some other shirt you can snorkel in, as well as a hat for kayaking - the sun is no joke here!
